Purpose of the Role

The Principal Engagement and Events Manager sits on the Development Team and will work closely with development leadership and frontline fundraisers to design and execute regional fundraising event plans. You will oversee engagement activities for donors and prospects at all levels including virtual and in person events. You will work cross departmentally to create donor engagement opportunities within central and programmatic specific Foundation events. Additionally you will manage all development requests for Principals including correspondence, call time, and meetings. The manager will work closely with the Central Events Team and represent the Development Team in cross departmental initiatives. You will maintain development data systems, particularly those related to principal requests, event attendance, RSVP reports, and invites as well as draft and distribute event related communications.

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Events Strategy: Create the vision and project manage the execution of best in class development events for a donor stewardship portfolio of 2000+ donors. Translate the programmatic data, and the work of the Foundation’s program participants, into a suite of compelling and unified events that tell the story of the work of the Foundation to our broad network of donors and prospects.
  • Principal Engagement: Project manage all development requests for Principals including correspondence, call time, and meetings. Work directly with the office of the CEO to process and track all requests.
  • Regional Events Strategy: Manage the design and implementation of a comprehensive regional events strategy to support the development team’s goals in each fundraising region. Collaborate with each frontline team to execute events specific to the fundraising and stewardship needs of each region.
  • Donor Experience within OF Programmatic Events: Manage cross departmental relationships to produce a robust suite of donor engagement opportunities within the Foundation central and programmatic events that can be readily used to solicit a diverse range of donors/prospects.
  • Donor Communication: Build cross departmental infrastructure to ensure a consistent communication strategy and guest experience for donors who attend all programmatic and development events. In partnership with development communications, manage all external donor communications for development events including event invitation design, RSVP communication, draft event discussion guides, and post event email strategy for all RSVPs.
  • Data Management: Create and maintain development data systems, particularly those related to event attendance, RSVP reports, and invites.
  • Cross Department Representative: Represent the development team on cross departmental decision making bodies that track all incoming Obama Foundation event requests.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work across departments and team to pull together deliverables
  • Prior experience working with Customer Relationship Management software (CRM), to include Salesforce
  • Experience managing logistics and coordinating with vendors
