  1. The Sanneh Foundation The Sanneh Foundation (Sanneh) is a Saint Paul, Minnesota based 501(c) (3) created to serve the holistic youth development needs of the increasingly diverse Twin Cities metro. Mission: The mission of The Sanneh Foundation is to Empower youth, Improve lives, and Unite communities. Vision: TSF’s nationally recognized youth advancement programs focus on education, health/wellness, and community, which are mainstream in the Twin Cities Parks/Recreation and school systems.   2. Job Overview: Director of Development will report to Vice President of External Relations and Partnership Development at The Sanneh Foundation. This individual will be responsible for successfully creating, leading and implementing an integrated resource development plan/strategy and developing new relationships, while maintaining existing relationships to build Sanneh's visibility, impact, and financial resources.
  3. This individual will be responsible for raising private sector funds to support Sanneh’s initiatives and leading the development and implementation of organization-wide strategies to increase the fundraising capacity. This individual will also support Sanneh’s Board in cultivating and soliciting major gifts from individuals, corporations, foundations and others.
  4. This individual will be responsible for fundraising, volunteer cultivation, corporate philanthropic support, communications, public relations, marketing and social media functions for Sanneh. Director of Development is a member of the Directors/Managers team and works together with Sanneh’s executive leadership team to provide strategic leadership and operational management of the Foundation as a whole.
  5. Reports to: Vice President of External Relations and Partnership Development Supervises: N/A Compensation: Commensurate with the qualifications Key Responsibilities & Requirements: Create & Lead Fund Development Strategy Craft a comprehensive fundraising plan that enables sustainable growth, including individual, foundation, and corporate donor(s) (prospecting, cultivation, and stewardship), and fundraising, and exploring potential state and government support (grants) in future years.
  6. Coordinate Sanneh fundraising efforts, assuring timely submission of funding requests, reports and development of 1276 University Avenue W. Saint Paul, MN 55104 www.thesannehfoundation.org individual donors, annual campaigns, planned-giving, major gifts, marketing and successful organization of special events. Build a larger major donor base for Sanneh.
  7. Plan and execute annual campaigns including direct mail, email campaigns, and individual solicitations. Ensure that records of donor information are maintained for ongoing communication. Ensure that staff and volunteers are trained fundraising values and practices. Collaborate with director of Finance and Operations to ensure that all compliance status and reporting requirements are satisfied.
  8. Facilitate board and staff involvement in fundraising efforts. Assist with the creation of communication and marketing/public relations strategy that will allow Sanneh leadership to cultivate and enhance meaningful relationships with targeted, high-level external audiences including the media and key influencers. Bolster Sanneh’s brand recognition in the Twin Cities.
  9. Lead External Relationships with Current & Potential Donors Lead relationship development/building strategy and activities with major individual donors, personally developing relationships with key donors and prospective donors, and coaching/guiding team members to do the same. Continually build the pipeline of potential supporters, building on referrals from Sanneh Board members, current advocates, and research. Cultivate relationships with volunteers who will become future Sanneh Foundation donors.
  10. Must be able to staff the Development Committee of the Sanneh Board and attend monthly board meetings. Drive individual giving. Lead institutional donor prospecting, cultivation, stewardship, supervising grant writing activities and supporting key relationships. Drive corporate and foundation giving. Fiscal Management and Budget Development In collaboration with the Vice President of External Relations and Partnership Development develop the budget for Development unit of Sanneh Foundation.
  11. Team Development/Management Build on Sanneh culture and productivity as a positive, cohesive, and highly functioning group. Must be able to motivate and lead individuals and teams effectively. Develop Fundraising Strategy & Infrastructure Work closely with other members of Sanneh executive leadership team to construct an overall organizational strategy and goals. Communicate with colleagues across Sanneh to integrate development and program activities and ensure that commitments are properly fulfilled. Work with other directors and managers to support media and public relations strategy.
  12. Prepare Sanneh Foundation annual report. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree required 3 or more years of progressively responsible experience in fundraising, non-profit development, donor relations, grant writing, including committee work and strategic planning. Minimum two years’ experience in managing a team of direct reports. Communication Skills: Impeccable interpersonal, oral and written communications skills in order to convey a strong and effective message about the work of the Sanneh.
  13. Additional Qualifications Include: Qualifications: This individual should: Possess passion for the mission, demonstrated effectiveness as a leader. Have history of dedicated volunteer activity and/or commitment to non-profit organizations. Have demonstrated ability to plan and execute major gift activities, including the ability to ask for and close gifts of $50,000 and/or larger gift(s). Have positive initiative and mature sound judgment. Be results-driven with a high level of personal and professional integrity and trustworthiness. Be highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage complex projects, competing priorities and tight deadlines. Be highly technology/internet savvy, with experience in Word, Excel, donor databases, Google suite, and other key Rev. 3/21/17 Chief Advancement Officer software tools/platforms. Be able to prospects, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors using effective communication and personal interaction skills. Have prior success working closely and building relationships with diverse groups of people. Be comfortable giving and receiving honest, constructive feedback, and acting as a coach or mentor to staff. Thrive in a fast-paced, creative and fun environment with a sense of humor even under stress. Be politically savvy to advocate for Sanneh by connecting with the political entities. Be able to make presentation in small and large group settings. Have a strong work ethic, take initiative, and require minimal supervision/direction.
